India’s “Make in India” Push Creates World-Class Infrastructure, Says Piyush Goyal

New Delhi – Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday highlighted India’s emergence as a global economic powerhouse, attributing it to a decade of transformative reforms and strategic international collaborations under the Modi government. Speaking to reporters, Goyal expressed optimism about the country’s growth trajectory, especially as new global partnerships strengthen in the coming years.
The Impact of “Make in India”
Goyal credited the government’s flagship “Make in India” initiative for fostering the development of modern, world-class infrastructure catering to both domestic and international investors. The initiative, launched in 2014, has not only strengthened India’s manufacturing base but also created a favourable environment for investments across sectors.
One standout achievement has been the nation’s digital transformation. Goyal pointed out that India provides the world’s cheapest data at just 17 cents per gigabyte, a stark contrast to the $3–$7 average in advanced economies. This affordability has spurred global tech firms to consider India a prime destination for setting up data centres and other digital ventures.
India’s Export Milestones Amid Challenges
Despite global challenges, including geopolitical tensions in West Asia and Europe, Goyal said India is on track to achieve a record $800 billion in exports by the end of FY25. This builds on the impressive $776.68 billion in exports achieved in FY24.
The minister emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to create a supportive ecosystem for both goods and services exports. “We are building resilience and competitiveness, ensuring that Indian products meet global standards,” he said.
A Global Economic Force
India’s ascent as a dependable business partner is also rooted in its strategic international alliances. Over the past decade, the country has bolstered its ties with key economies, enhancing its trade footprint while attracting foreign direct investment.
Looking ahead, Goyal expressed hope that India’s growth momentum would align well with global developments, particularly as the Donald Trump administration prepares to lead the world’s largest economy next year.
Conclusion
With initiatives like “Make in India” and a focused approach to infrastructure and export development, India has positioned itself as a critical player in the global economy. As the country continues to expand its capabilities and build partnerships, it is poised to deliver sustained growth and innovation in the years to come.
India’s story is not just one of economic growth but of transformation, resilience, and global leadership.
